NICKERSON — Smoky Valley’s strength in the upper weights propelled it to the championship of the Central Kansas League Wrestling Tournament on Saturday.
The Vikings won four of the five heaviest classes to score 185 points, with Pratt second with 162.
Hoisington was a tight third with 154 1/2. Other totals were Lyons (102 1/2), Halstead (64), Hillsboro (64), Nickerson (64), Hesston (48) and Larned (44).
Viking champions included Austin Lustfield at 106, Austin Cook at 170, Spencer Bird at 182, Ethan Loder at 195 and Brix Brickey at 285.
Noah Lackey at 126 and Brandon Archuleta at 132 took second. Austin Golden was third at 138, while fourths were recorded by Nick Karber at 113, Brett Sauvage at 160 and Nils Peterson at 220.
Caleb Sare (120) and Beck Elliott (145) were fifth in their respective weight classes. Joey Alvarado was seventh at 152.
The Vikings will compete in regional action next weekend at Colby.
