McPherson College's Aubrey Barton was named Monday as the KCAC Women's Basketball Defensive Player of the Week.
She was selected from a pool of nominees by a vote of conference Sports Information Directors for her performances during the week of Feb. 10-16.
Barton won Defensive Player of the Week thanks to a solid all-around performance. She recorded 17 rebounds, 11 of which were defensive, and added six blocks and two steals. Her play helped McPherson hold Kansas Wesleyan University and Ottawa University to 30.6 percent and 28.3 percent shooting, respectively. The freshman also totaled 39 points on the week, with a career-high of 25 coming in a 70-60 victory over Ottawa University.
On the season, Barton is the team leader in both points and rebounds per game with an average of 13.2 and 6.5, respectively.
