McPherson High’s boys, who take a 15-1 record to Mulvane tonight, have vaulted back into the No. 1 spot in Class 4A Division I, according to rankings released Monday by the Kansas Basketball Coaches Association.
Last week’s No. 1, Baldwin, fell to No. 3. Basehor-Linwood is the new No. 2.
Kansas City Piper is No. 4, followed by Labette County, Independence, Coffeyville, Paola, Augusta and Abilene.
The MHS girls, 10-1 in their last 11 games, stayed at No. 7. Season-long leader Wamego is on top, while also ahead of MHS are Miege, Hayden, Paola, Fort Scott and Andover Central. Kansas City Piper is No. 8, with Coffeyville and Bonner Springs rounding out the Top 10.
Hesston’s boys and girls remain No. 1 in Class 3A. Following the Swather boys are Eurkea, Sabetha, Council Grove, Beloit, Nemaha Valley, Holcomb, Rock Creek, Humboldt and Wellsville.
The Swather girls lead the rest of the pack, which includes Riley County, Holcomb, Cimarron, Cheney, Douglass, Caney Valley, Cherryvale, Council Grove and Marysville.
The Moundridge girls moved up one spot in Class 2A this week to No. 5, trailing Jefferson County North, Central Plains, Sterling and Ellinwood.
The Moundridge boys dropped out of the 2A rankings this week after a loss to Berean Acadmey.
