LINDSBORG — Bethany College sophomore Ashley Montoya, from Bay City, Texas, has been named the KCAC Softball Player of the Week.

"Monty had a great start to the season," Bethany coach Janice Esses said. "She had quality at-bats. Batting in the three-hole, we will look to her for consistency at the plate."

In six games for the Swedes, Montoya hit .500 and tallied a .591 slugging percentage.

In Bethany's doubleheader at Langston University (Okla.), Montoya went 5 for 8 with four RBIs.

Montoya recorded a hit in all six Bethany games, and drove in runs in five of the games. She ended the week with 11 hits, eight RBIs, three runs, two double, and one stolen base.

Montoya is the daughter of Willy and Lisa Montoya, and has two siblings, Alyssa "Roe" and Alyson.
