MOUNDRIDGE — Central Christian College’s baseball team split with Dakota State Friday in games played at Moundridge High School.

The Tigers exploded for six runs in the sixth inning to win the first game, 8-4. They collected 12 hits, led by Lee Stoop’s double and two singles. Martin Guevara had two hits and two RBIs, and Tyler Gniadek and Nicholas Campo added a pair of singles apiece.

Robert Hawkins went the distance to pick up the win, wobbling only in the final inning when he gave up three runs.

Dakota State denied the Tigers the sweep by winning the second game, 6-3. A three-run fourth inning turned the game in favor of the visitors.

Drew Scheisser was a one-man band for the Tigers as he drove in all three runs on two hits. The Tigers managed only six as a team. Braxton Lorenzini took the loss.

The teams are playing two more games today in Moundridge, with first pitch set for noon. The Tigers are now 5-6 on the season.
