LINDSBORG —The Smoky Valley girls exploded out of the gates with 20 first-quarter points and went on to blast Nickerson 59-35 Monday night in a makeup game.

Hannah McBride fired in 18 points to lead the Vikings and also came up with seven deflections and three steals. Hannah Hattabaugh and Kelsie Anderson furnished 12 points apiece, with Hattabaugh going 6 of 8 from the field. Anderson also furnished seven rebounds.

Nickerson’s boys denied Smoky Valley the sweep, 50-38. A two-point first quarter stalled the Vikings’ quest for their first win of the year, and the Panthers also closed out the game strong with 20 fourth-quarter points.

Cole Norberg’s 10 points led the Vikings.
