Central Christian College’s basketball teams will be involved in MCAC Postseason Tournament play on Friday in Oklahoma.
The Tiger men will be in Bartlesville for the MCAC South Tournament. CCC takes on College of the Ozarks at 4 p.m., with the other game pitting Oklahoma Wesleyan against Central Baptist College.
The championship game is 7 p.m. Saturday.
The Tigers winged their way to a 14-2 start, which included five wins over KCAC opponents, including Bethany College. But when they hit MCAC play, the conference proved to be brutal as the Tigers were 3-11, but in several of those games they had late leads and couldn’t seal the deal.
Central was 0-2 against Ozarks this year, losing 83-58 on the road, but it was 84-83 at home when CCC saw a 14-point lead disappear in the final two minutes.
CCC also is 0-2 against top-seed Oklahoma Wesleyan, losing 83-74 in Bartlesville and 92-67 in McPherson.
There’s a chance the Tigers’ season might not be over if it doesn’t advance out of this weekend as they could be involved in NCCAA play.
The Lady Tigers face the more uphill battle in Bartlesville. They play Oklahoma Wesleyan at 6 p.m. Friday in their South Tournament opener and if they pull off the upset of the century, they would play at 5 p.m. Saturday for the title.
CCC finished MCAC play 0-14 and is 8-22 overall. It lost to Wesleyan 96-67 on the road, then was defeated 96-53 at home. If the Lady Tigers would somehow pull the stunner Friday, they probably would face College of the Ozarks, which blasted them 110-35 in the first meeting, but it was much more competitive here, 93-67. If CCC is eliminated, its season is over.
The winners of the South Tournament meet the winners of the North Tournament, with the sites determined on regular-season finish.
