MHS duo wins state powerlifting titles

ABILENE — McPherson High’s Ivanna Moyer and Alisa Becker were crowned state champions Saturday during the Kansas High School Powerlifting Championships.

Moyer took first in the powerweight class, while Becker won the 162 class.

MHS’ Paige Regnier was second in the 156 class, Addie Lanning was third in the 148 class and Bri Cook was fifth in the powerweight class.

Behind that quintet, MHS took third place in the team standings. Bullpup coach Tom Young said he was pleased with the performance, as the MHS program held its own with the best in the state.

MHS’ Ty Hart was the top finisher for the boys, taking fifth overall.
