Pine Village announces that Becki Yoder, Wellness Center Director, will be adding volunteer coordinator to her job duties. Yoder will take over the duties effective immediately. With the ongoing need for additional volunteers at Pine Village, Yoder will take on the responsibility of growing volunteerism, plus directing and coordinating the volunteer efforts at Pine Village.
Volunteers are an important part of Pine Village history from its inception. The construction of the original building, then Memorial Home, in 1958 was completed with the use of donated labor. Shortly after that the women’s auxiliary was formed, which consists of a group of volunteer women from each of the sponsoring churches.
“We Lay This Cornerstone, the book written by Gladys Goering tells the story of Memorial Home’s first 25 years, and she describes the many ways volunteers have contributed to the cause,” said Beck Yoder, Director of Wellness and Aquatics and Volunteer Coordinator. “The need for volunteers still continues and grows today in many of the same original capacities as well as new and innovative opportunities.”
Volunteering takes on many different shapes. It could be a one-time event, to something regular such as once a month, once a week, inside the building or outside, mending resident’s clothes, or sharing a special talent. If you are interested in being a Pine Village volunteer please call the Becki at 345-2900.
Yoder will continue as the Director of Wellness and Aquatics, a position she has held since 1999.
