WINFIELD — Central Christian College’s men’s tennis team took KCAC member Southwestern right down to the wire Wednesday before losing a 5-4 decision.

The Tigers continue to be solid at the top of the lineup. Mark Gayer won his No. 1 singles match 6-1, 6-0, Dylon Neal triumphed at No. 2 (6-1, 6-1) and Hugo Chavez was successful at No. 3 (6-3, 6-3). Southwestern won the lower three singles matches.

Gayer and Neal rolled 8-2 at No. 1 doubles, but the other two matches went Southwestern’s way.

The CCC women were defeated, 6-1. Megan Carter again accounted for the only Tiger point at No. 3 singles.

CCC is off for 10 days, returning March 22 to host Simpson College.
