Central Christian College’s baseball losing streak reached three here Saturday after a pair of agonizing two-run losses to Morningside College.
The Tigers were in good shape in the opener, up 6-3 after four innings. But a run in the fifth and four in the sixth enabled the Mustangs to rally for a 9-7 victory.
Martin Guevara and Alex Rodriguez stroked two hits apiece for CCC. Robert Hawkins took the loss.
The Tigers wasted a fine pitching effort in the second game by Braxton Lorenzini, who did not allowed an earned run in a 4-2 loss. All four runs, three of them coming in the sixth, were unearned as the Tigers leaked defensively with three errors as they let a 2-1 lead get away.
Rodriguez had two hits for CCC, one of them a home run.
The Tigers are now 14-12. They play at NCAA Division II Henderson State University of Arkansas in a twinbill on Tuesday.
