ARKADELPHIA, Ark. — Central Christian College’s promising start to the baseball season has been dulled by a five-game losing streak.

CCC’s record, now 14-14, was smudged Tuesday with a pair of losses to Henderson State, 9-3 and 5-1.

The Tigers led 1-0 early in the opener, but three runs in the third and five more in the fifth tilted the advantage the Reddies’ way.

Lee Stoops was the spotlight performer for CCC with a homer and single. Drew Schiesser also collected two hits. Andrew Hightower took the loss for the Tigers.

The second game was a heartbreaker for CCC, which led 1-0 until the sixth when Henderson State scored all five of its runs. The Tigers wasted a nice pitching effort by Alan Barker, who allowed only one earned run as an error opened the door to the Reddies’ big inning.

Six different players had one single each for CCC, with Stoops driving in the only run.

The Tigers will try to get well this weekend when they are in MCAC action hosting York College of Nebraska. The teams hook up for four games, with two Friday and two Saturday.
