HESSTON — Hesston High swept the Class 3A state basketball titles last Saturday and this week its players reaped the benefits of its success.
Two Swather boys were named to the Central Kansas League first team, Grant Raleigh and Wyatt McKinney.
Also on the team were Ryan McClure of Lyons, Mitchell Packard of Kingman, Christian Ratzlaff and Brett Weinbrenner of Hillsboro, and Anthony Santiago of Halstead.
Hesston’s Tyler McCartney and Ryan Schadler headlined the second team. Smoky Valley’s Cole Norberg and Alec Schneider made honorable mention.
On the girls’ side, Hesston’s Caylee Richardson surprisingly was the only Swather on the first team despite them winning the state title, and Smoky Valley’s Hannah McBride was a member as well.
Also on the first team were Danae Bina and Addie Lackey of Hillsboro, Kylah Comley of Sterling, Jenson Maydew of Pratt and Brenna McClure of Lyons.
Hesston’s Cami Richardson and Kelsey Unruh were second-team picks. Hesston’s Ali Jost and Hannah Schmitt were honorable mention selections.
