The McPherson College baseball team split its second straight four-game home-and-home series this past week against Saint Mary.

The Bulldogs are now 4-4 in the KCAC, with four Game 1 wins and four Game 2 losses as they look for the formula to complete a sweep. The first two games were played in Leavenworth, the final two in McPherson.

• Mac 15, Saint Mary 5 — Josh Grant and Jose Nossa collected three hits apiece as the Bulldogs had their slugging shoes on with 16 safeties. Back-to-back four-run innings in the sixth and seventh innings broke the game open. Taylor Werts was solid on the mound to pick up the win.

• Saint Mary 9, Mac 3 — The Bulldogs went flat in the second game, as the Spires scored three runs in the first and five in the sixth to take control. Nossa and Grant had two more hits. Nolan Huelsmann took the loss.

• Mac 5, Saint Mary 3 — The Bulldogs, down 3-0 after the first inning, finally came alive in the fifth with five runs. Dorian Shelton and Tom Potter had two hits apiece for the Bulldogs. Scott Hughes was the winner.

• Saint Mary 11, Mac 1 — The Bulldogs couldn’t build on their first-game momentum as they turned in a clunker, allowing the Spires to lead 5-0 early.

Nossa and Shelton produced two hits apiece. Grant took the loss.

The Bulldogs, now 7-16 overall, host Ottawa on Friday, then the teams turn around and play Saturday in Ottawa.
