The NAIA announced Monday that 134 student-athletes have been named 2013-14 Daktronics-NAIA Division II Men's Basketball Scholar-Athletes. The lone representative for McPherson College was Erik DeRoo (Tyler, Texas).

Student-athletes are nominated by their institution's head coach and must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status in order qualify for the honor.

DeRoo is a one-year senior for Bulldog basketball, transfer in January 2013. The guard played in all 31 games for McPherson, totaling 497 minutes of time on the court. He averaged 5.3 points, hitting 36.8 percent of his field goals; he scored the bulk of his points in the second-half of the season, bucketing 97 of his 164 points in the final 16 games. He also tallied 38 rebounds, 29 assists, 21 steals, 18 turnovers and one block for his time at McPherson.

A sport management and physical education major, DeRoo is currently applying to graduate schools for the 2014-15 school year.
