BC's Tapia earns KCAC honor

LINDSBORG — Bethany College junior Edgardo Tapia of Temuco, Chile, has been named KCAC Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week.

"Edgardo "Abuelo" Tapia has been playing better and better tennis for us this season," Bethany coach Vic Bateman said. "Edgardo played awesome against Concordia and absolutely dominated his opponents in singles and doubles all trip."

Facing No. 11 ranked Concordia University-Irvine, Tapia went undefeated, winning No. 3 singles 6-2, 6-1 and No. 2 doubles 8-5 with partner Manuel Raga.

On the season, Tapia is 6-2 in singles play and 8-0 in doubles play.

This is the second straight week a Bethany men's tennis player has earned Athlete of the Week honors. Raga was named KCAC Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week for Week One, March 17-23.

The Swedes are currently 9-0 overall and ranked No. 14 in the NAIA.
