The McPherson County Commission amended its rules on burning in McPherson County on Monday. The major change is that now open burning will not be allowed 6 hrs. prior to the start of a forecasted “Red Flag Warning” or 6 hrs. after the completion of the warning for McPherson County.
As a practical matter, that means that if a Red Flag Warning is issued for Noon to 7 p.m. as it is on March 26, there is no burning allowed from 6 a.m. that morning until 1 a.m. the next day.
In effect, it means that there is no burning on a day when a red flag warning is forecast, not just during the duration of the warning itself.
