WINFIELD — McPherson College’s softball team began the KCAC portion of its schedule on Tuesday with a road split against Southwestern College.
The Bulldogs permitted back-to-back three-run innings in the first game to drop a 6-3 verdict. The Mac bats couldn’t get going with only five hits, two of them by Emily Davis. Jenna Kaiser had the only extra-base hit with a triple. Ciara Archer took the loss.
The second game was more like what the Bulldogs expected as they pounded the Moundbuilders 10-0 in a five-inning game.
A four-run third inning, coupled with a five-run fifth, made it easy for Kaiser, who twirled a four-hit shutout, walking only one.
Amanda Darrow was on fire by going 3 for 3 with three runs scored. Cassandra Mereno had three RBIs, while Kaiser and Makenzie Frank posted two hits apiece as Mac had 11 in the game.
The Bulldogs are now 6-11 on the season. They are right back in action today as they host Central Christian College at 5 p.m. at Wall Park. The teams will play a twinbill.
The Bulldogs also host Saint Mary in a KCAC doubleheader on Saturday.
