LINDSBORG— Cassidy Hornbacher of Lindsborg has signed a letter of intent to play volleyball at Bethany College for the 2014-2015 academic year.

Hornbacher comes to Bethany from Smoky Valley High School, where she was a right side hitter. She also hads participated in the pole vault on the track team at Smoky Valley.

"It is great to finally be able to have a student-athlete from Smoky Valley High School," Bethany coach Nathalea Stephenson said. "Cassie is one of those players that is very coachable and one that will put in the extra time to improve her skills. She understands the importance of the team and that each person has a role to play on the team.  Cassie serves the ball well and on the front row, even though right now she doesn't have a powerful swing, she is smart and will keep the ball in and place it well.  We are excited to help her grow as a player, becoming stronger and continuing to improve on her skills."

Hornbacher is the daughter of Marcus and Elizabeth Spencer. She plans to major in criminal justice and psychology.
