OTTAWA — McPherson High graduate Aaron Marshall is putting together an All-KCAC-worthy baseball season for the Ottawa Braves.
Marshall, a sophomore whose Braves will be in McPherson on Sunday for a twinbill against the Bulldogs after the teams play two on Saturday in Ottawa, is battering the ball at a rousing .354 clip, which places him 11th in the KCAC.
But it’s been a loud .354. The angular 6-8 Marshall has clubbed five homers and driven in 13 runs, while also hitting a pair of triples and three doubles as 10 of his 28 hits are for extra bases.
What’s most surprising is that he has stolen 17 bases in 18 attempts, which ranks him in the KCAC’s top five. He’s also drawn 13 walks as he’s been an on-base machine (.446, ranks 12th in the KCAC).
Despite Marshall’s robust season, the Braves are 0-8 in the KCAC after going 9-9 in nonconference play.
Marshall was a mainstay during his high school career for the Bullpups and had a powerful American Legion season this past summer for Post 24.
