SEWARD, Neb. -- The Bethany College women's tennis team picked up two wins over Concordia University-Seward Thursday and Friday. The Swedes won 8-1 Thursday night and 5-4 Friday afternoon. With the wins Bethany moves to 3-3 for the season.
For the two days, Kara Agamaite and Juliana Bezerra won both of their doubles matches. In the No. 1 doubles on Thursday they won 8-6, and for the No. 2 doubles they won 8-1. Kittey Edwards and Michelle Rambo also won both of their doubles competitions. They played No. 3 doubles both days and won 8-1 both days. Thursday Mackenzi Choitz and Amelia Fabrizius won their No. 2 doubles by a score of 8-0.
Edwards, Fabrizius and Rambo all went undefeated in singles for the two days. Edwards won the No. 4 singles 6-1, 6-1 on Thursday, and then followed up with an 8-0 win on Friday. Fabrizius won the No. 5 singles Frday 6-1 and 6-0. She won the No. 6 singles by a score of 8-0 Friday. Rambo won her matchup 6-0 and 6-0 Thursday and won the singles set 8-5 in the No. 5 spot.
Bezerra won her No. 2 singles match Thursday evening 6-4 and 7-5. Choitz won a single set 9-7 to earn the final point for the Swedes on Thursday.
"It was a good opportunity for our girls to get in playing against a solid Concordia team," Bethany coach Vic Bateman said. "We played two different lineups on two different days that gave us a chance to play against different styles each day. I was happy with how hard our girls played on a unique surface."
The Swedes host Doane College Saturday.
