Central Christian College’s softball team came up empty in the first day of the MCAC Crossover Tournament at Wall Park.
CCC lost to undefeated Waldorf 7-2 after taking an early 1-0 lead.
It was a terribly frustrating game for Central, as it accumulated 14 hits and but left a village of runners (11) on base.
Ashly Westgarth and Sydney Nelson smacked three hits apiece, while Cristina Insua and Nicole Martin had two apiece. The Lady Tigers actually doubled up Waldorf in hits, 14-7.
Insua took the loss.
CCC managed only one hit in a 14-0 second-game loss to Bellevue. Dana Dean prevented the no-hitter for the Lady Tigers with the lone hit. Insua took the loss.
“We played well in Game 1 versus Waldorf, who was 25-0, and had one bad inning, and for the game left 11 runners on base and it cost us,” CCC coach Chad Kerr said. “Game 2 was not good at all. We'll regroup and hopefully pick up two wins on Saturday, which would put us at 2-2 on the weekend and right in the upper third of the pack in the conference."
CCC plays College of St. Mary and York today to complete the tournament.
