Hall throws nifty shutout for Lady Tigers

Central Christian College’s softball team salvaged its final game of the MCAC Crossover Tournament here Saturday to finish the weekend with a 1-3 record.

The Lady Tigers’ Kristen Hall was nails by spinning a seven-hit shutout in a 2-0 victory over York College in their second game of the day. She did not walk a batter and fanned four.

CCC scored both its runs in the second inning on a two-run single by Dana Dean, who had three hits in the contest.

The Lady Tigers pinged the ball for 15 singles, but left nine runners on base. Hall, Ashly Westgarth, Sydney Nelson, Cristina Insua, Brooklynn Lemons and Desiree Yandell all collected two hits each.

CCC had lost its first game on Saturday, 9-0 to College of St. Mary. Westgarth’s double was the only extra-base hit, as the Lady Tigers had five different players record one each.

Hall was the loser.

Central is now 3-7 in the MCAC and 8-20 overall. It hosts KCAC quad-leader Kansas Wesleyan on Monday. First pitch is 3 p.m.
