LINDSBORG — For the third time this season and second time in three weeks, Bethany College's Dan Eck has been named the KCAC Pitcher of the Week. Eck was picked from a number of pitchers for his 1-0 pitching performance against Sterling College.
Eck was phenomenal again for the Swedes. He pitched all seven innings, and was an error away from pitching a perfect game. Eck gave up no runs, no hits, zero walks and struck out six batters in his seven innings of work. He only needed 62 pitches to go through the 21 batters that he faced.
"Winning conference Pitcher of the Week for the third time is a tremendous accomplishment for Dan. It is a testament to how hard he has been working," Bethany coach Andrew Bartman said. "I'm glad that we were able to push a run across for him since he threw a no-hitter. He should be very proud of how he's been throwing the ball. We are glad to have him and hope he continues to have success this week against McPherson."
Eck won Pitcher of the Week in Week One and also in Week Five. Of the seven weeks the conference has named a pitcher of the week, Eck has earned the award three times. The other four weeks two pitchers from Tabor College have won the award, each winning it twice.
Eck and the Swedes will be in action again this week when they have a home-and-home series with McPherson College Friday and Saturday afternoon.
