SALINA — There’s a reason Kansas Wesleyan is one of the KCAC’s top softball teams.
The Coyotes showed why Monday with a sweep of Central Christian College, 16-9 and 13-3. They are now 22-5 on the year and tied for first in the KCAC.
In the first game, the Coyotes jumped on the Lady Tigers with six runs in the first inning and wound up scoring in each inning.
Central did put the ball in play with nine hits and also had a seven-run fourth inning.
Dana Dean, Ashly Westgarth and Kristen Hall all had two hits for Central, both of Hall’s being doubles.
Hall was the losing pitcher.
The first inning again did CCC in during the nightcap. The Coyotes struck for five runs and later had a five-run third inning.
Desiree Yandell had a homer and single for the Lady Tigers. Cristina Insua took the loss.
CCC is now 8-22 on the year. Next action is scheduled for Wednesday at Concordia University.
