LINDSBORG — Bethany College’s Mensford Owusu has been named KCAC Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week.
"Mensford has been solid all year for us at any spot in the lineup," Bethany coach Vic Bateman said. "He has been playing a great level of singles and doubles and helped lead the team on and off the court.”
Owusu finished the week with both a singles and doubles victory for the Swedes. He defeated Gardefjord of Doane College (Neb.) 6-2, 6-4. Owusu and his teammate Aaron Moses, Jr. also topped Doane 8-2 in No. 2 doubles.
Owusu has posted an 8-1 singles and 9-0 doubles record this season. The Swedes are currently 10-0 overall, ranked 14th in the NAIA.
This is the third straight Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week honor for Bethany. Manuel Raga earned the honor in Week One, Edgardo Tapia in Week Two and Owusu in Week Three.
