Jordan Slaton’s infield hit scored Seth Davenport with the winning run in the bottom of the 10th inning here Tuesday as McPherson College’s baseball team walked off with a 5-4 victory over Benedictine to improve to 11-19 on the year.
Davenport had reached on an error to open the inning, then Austin Russell followed with a single. After Tom Potter grounded out, Andrew Pina was intentionally walked to load the bases and set up a potential inning-ending doubleplay.
Slaton then hit his infield grounder and Davenport was able to score.
Benedictine had scored in the ninth to send the game into extras. Mac led 3-0 early and later led 4-1 before the Ravens chipped away.
Mac had only five hits in the game, with Taylor Werts’ double the only extra-base knock. He had two hits and two RBIs, while also picking up the win on the mound.
The Bulldogs host county rival Bethany at 5 p.m. Friday at Light Capital Diamond.
