Central Christian College’s softball team picked up a pair of confidence-boosting victories here Saturday.
The Lady Tigers defeated Ecclesia College 8-5 and 3-1 in a pair of solid performances.
In the first game, the Lady Tigers pounded out 12 hits and used a five-run inning to mount a 7-1 lead before Ecclesia made it interesting at the end.
Winning pitcher Kristen Hall helped her own cause by going 4 for 4, while Dana Dean contributed a homer and single. Sydney Nelson also had two hits and scored three runs. The top four hitters in the CCC order combined for nine hits and six runs.
Hall went 5 2/3 innings before Cristina Insua finished up for the save.
Insua was solid in the second game, working five innings of three-hit, one-run ball before handing off to Hall. Insua also drove in two runs, which determined the outcome when CCC scored all three of its runs to overcome a 1-0 deficit. Desiree Yandell added a pair of hits for the Lady Tigers.
Central is 10-24 on the year and plays McPherson College on Wednesday.
