KCAC softball powerhouse Kansas Wesleyan threw some strong pitching at McPherson College here Saturday, resulting in a Coyote sweep.

The Bulldogs were held to one run in both games by the KCAC tri-leader, losing 9-1 and 5-1.

In the first game, Mac — missing ace pitcher Ciara Archer because of illness — found itself in a 7-0 hole after a half-inning. KW added a pair of runs in the second, but it was zeroes after that.

Mac had three hits, with Cassandra Moreno driving in Amanda Darrow with the only run.

Jenna Kaiser took the loss, though five of the runs she allowed were unearned.

KW pecked away in the second game, scoring in each of the first four innings. For the second straight game, the only Bulldog run came thanks to Moreno driving in Darrow. Mariah Wedel and Emily Davis collected two hits apiece for Mac.

Kaila Atkinson pitched well in defeat for the Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs are now 3-5 in the KCAC and 8-15 overall, while the streaking Coyotes are 7-1 in conference play and a splendid 26-5 overall.

The Bulldogs host Bethel College Tuesday. The Threshers are winless in KCAC action.
