LINDSBORG — Bethany College’s women’s tennis team lost 7-2 Saturday to Kansas Wesleyan, but defeated Hesston College by the same score.

The Swedes struggled against the Coyotes of Kansas Wesleyan, who were very tough in the middle of their lineup, according to Swede coach Vic Bateman.

Julianna Bezerra won her No. 2 singles match, 6-3 and 6-2. In doubles action, Michelle Rambo and Kittey Edwards grabbed an 8-3 victory at No. 3.

"We came out and didn't play the big points very well, not taking advantage of many break points in our doubles matches," Bateman said.

Bethany played better against Hesston, snagging a 7-2 victory.

Kara Agamaite , Mackenzi Choitz, Edwards, Amelia Fabrizius and Michelle Rambo all won their singles matches.

In doubles play, the No. 2 team of  Choitz-Fabrizius and No. 3 Edwards/Rambo both finished victorious.

"Against Hesston the women played better and we hope to keep improving on our volleys and our doubles play," Bateman said.

The Swedes are currently 0-1 in the KCAC and 3-5 overall. The squad travels to McPherson College on Monday for a 3 p.m. match.
