Good news for those anxiously awaiting the completion of the First and Main intersection from McPherson City Public Works Director Jeff Woodward. The traffic signals are scheduled to go into flash mode today or tomorrow. They should be operational on Friday.

Toward the end of the week, Main Street should be opened up to four lanes. There will be a period of time after traffic is switched where there are still repairs to be made on the other side of Main.

The section of First Street from Hartup to Main should be opened up to four lanes by the end of the week, as the final alley and two driveways will be tied in this week. Those particular tie ins will open early next week.

The outside lane will have to be closed from time to time to accomplish sidewalk construction and backfilling of the curb and gutter, but those projects will allow it to be reopened to four lanes at night.

Obviously, this schedule is very weather dependent. Any rain or storms could push the final phases back.
