EL DORADO — What course was El Dorado’s Travis House playing on Monday?
The Wildcat standout obviously wasn’t affected by the dreary conditions like the rest of the field in the El Dorado Invitational, as his spectacular 70 was 10 shots clear of runner-up Brooks Brown of Sacred Heart.
House shot rounds of 37-33.
House got just enough help to lead his team to the title with a 337, eight shots ahead of second-place Winfield. McPherson High shot 360 in what was its season opener, but that was good enough for third as only 11 players in the field broke 90.
Other team scores were Emporia (371), Sacred Heart (375), Goddard (387), Sunrise Christian Academy (456) and Bluestem (479).
The Bullpups’ Dylan Blosser tied for sixth with an 86, while CJ Steiner and TJ Stites tied for 11th with 89s. Rounding out MHS’ scores that counted was Casey Cheek with a 96.
Wyatt Porter shot 97 and Kaden Warren shot 99 for the Bullpups.
MHS hosts its annual invitational beginning at 2 p.m. Thursday at Turkey Creek. Spectators are welcomed.
