LINDSBORG — It had to be a special feeling Tuesday for Hesston High tennis coach Mark Dahlsten.
Dahlsten took his team to play in the Ron Dahlsten Tennis Classic, named for his father, and it emerged as the champion.
The Swathers scored 46 points for the comfortable victory. Abilene (39), Pratt (28), Wichita Collegiate (27), Smoky Valley (26), Concordia (16), Hillsboro (12) and Smoky Valley B (8) completed the order.
Hesston’s Collin Martin won the singles division, taking an 8-3 decision in the title match from Johnson of Abilene.
Hesston also won the doubles division as Grant Dahlsten and Garrett Roth were an 8-5 winner over Kahmeyer and Kurtz of Pratt in the finals.
Smoky Valley’s top finish was a third from the doubles team of Alec Schneider and Trey Schenider, beating teammates Trapper Bellah and Will Bochte in the last consolation match.
