LAWTON, Okla. — The Bethany College men's tennis team suffered its first loss of the year Saturday.
The Swedes (13-1, 3-0 KCAC) lost 6-3 to Cameron University (16-6). The Aggies are an NCAA Division II program currently ranked 17th nationally.
The Swedes were in good shape after the first two doubles matches. But from there the Aggies took control of the match winning the last doubles, and five of the six singles competitions.
Manuel Raga and Edgardo Tapia started the match off strong for Bethany by getting the 9-7 No. 1 doubles victory. Mensford Owusu and Aaron Moses, Jr. followed suit winning the No. 2 doubles, 8-4. Amir Rahbar and Michiel Van Den Bogaert lost the No. 3 doubles by a score of 8-3.
Raga was the only Swede to win his singles match, and he did so winning the No. 1 singles, 6-4, 6-4.
Bethany will be right back at it today as it will travel to Shawnee, Okla., to play Oklahoma Baptist University. Oklahoma Baptist is currently ranked 25th nationally in the NAIA.
