The McPherson Public Library will celebrate National Library Week from April 14 through April 18 with the theme “Get Real at the McPherson Public Library”.  During the week the library staff will highlight the many resources found inside the library, as well as the staff who make the mission of the library possible.

The library continues a long-standing tradition on Wednesday, April 16, which is Coffee & Cookie Day.  The public is encouraged to stop by the library meeting room from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. that day and enjoy coffee and cookies.  There will also be a special display in the meeting room that day featuring information and trivia about members of the library staff.

Several events will take place all week long:  People of all ages are encouraged to visit the library at their convenience and take part in a scavenger hunt – there will be one for both children and adults.  All participants receive a small prize and will be entered in a drawing for the grand prize, a $25 gift certificate to The Bookshelf.

There will be special daily posts on The Window, the library blog – at -- highlighting surprising or unique aspects of the library.  And patrons will enjoy seeing a display of favorite books of the library staff.

And also during National Library Week, the library will announce the winners of their annual bookmark contest.  Over the past few weeks, children, teens, and adults have been creating original artwork for bookmarks and submitting them to the library.  There will be one winner for each level.

For more information about National Library Week events, stop by the library,  call them at 245-2570, or email them at [email protected]  The library is open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, and 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.
