LINDSBORG —  Bethany College's Seth Derr was named KCAC Men's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week for his performance at the Wichita State University Invitational April 12.

Derr shattered the Bethany College school record in the javelin with a throw of 208-09, finishing fifth out of 27 competitors. His mark is currently first in the KCAC and fifth in the NAIA. He has earned a trip to the NAIA Outdoor Nationals, surpassing both the 'A' and 'B' qualifying standards this season.

"We are all very proud and excited for Seth," Bethany coach Ken Ciolek said. "His exceptional work ethic and commitment to his craft is what allows him to excel both in the classroom and on the track. Seth is still continuing to piece some things together and it is going to be very exciting when he does here in the upcoming weeks."

This is the second KCAC Men's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week for Derr. He also earned the honor on March 24.
