MOUNDRIDGE — It’s either sweep or be swept so far for the Moundridge softball team.
After losing a twinbill to open the season, the Wildcats responded with a pair of sweeps of their own to move to 4-2.
On Tuesday, it was Moundridge’s turn to be swept, losing 10-2 and 14-1 to powerful Ell Saline.
The first game was close until the sixth when Ell-Saline scored six runs to increase its lead to 10-0. Moundridge scored both its runs in the bottom of the sixth.
Elizabeth Ratzlaff had two hits and two RBIs to account for the MHS offense. Emily Knight took the loss, though several runs scored off of MHS errors.
In the second game, the Cardinals plated five runs in two separate innings. MHS could collect only five hits, two by Chelsey Knight. Ratzlaff took the loss, though half of the runs she allowed were unearned.
"We didn't show it tonight, but we are getting better," MHS coach Clark Wedel said. "We must play with confidence and be tough-minded when things go wrong."
Moundridge goes to Bennington on Tuesday.
