Baseball Vikings lose twice to Hillsboro

LINDSBORG — Hillsboro handed Smoky Valley’s baseball team a pair of setbacks on Tuesday.

The Vikings were in position to win the first game, but the Trojans scored three runs in the sixth inning to rally for a 7-5 victory.

Andrew McClure smoked a pair of doubles for the Vikings, while Tim Ruble and Blake Mitchell also doubled. Christian Hansen chipped in with a pair of singles. He also was the losing pitcher.

The Vikings led the second game 4-3 before the Trojans went on a rampage to pull away for a 20-8 victory.

Mitchell and Bradden Bergman slapped two singles apiece for the Vikings. Ryan Weldy took the loss.

Smoky Valley is now 1-7 and hosts Lyons on Tuesday.
