Central Christian College’s men’s tennis team scored a 5-3 victory here Tuesday over Southwestern Christian University.
One match was not completed.
The Tigers received their usual singles wins from No. 1 Mark Gayer (6-1, 6-2) and No. 2 Dylon Neal (4-6, 6-4, 10-7). And also as usual, Gayer and Neal won at No. 1 doubles with an 8-1 victory.
The other Tiger points came from Trey Johnson at No. 4 singles (6-3, 7-6) and the No. 2 doubles team of Hugo Chavez and Rusty Blanchard (8-3).
“I'm proud of the way we played today,” CCC coach Jeremy Nelson said. “Getting two wins in doubles was a huge factor in our success and it was great to get those wins on our home courts. In singles, it was great to see things finally go right for Trey. He played a smart match, playing within himself and was rewarded with the win."
The Tigers are now 3-9 on the season after their second straight win. They are scheduled to play again on Thursday against crosstown rival McPherson College. Weather permitting, the matches will start at 7 p.m. at the McPherson High Tennis Complex.
