C-G's Savage shatters school record in javelin

GOESSEL — Cody Savage broke the Canton-Galva school record in the javelin Tuesday during the Goessel Track and Field Meet.

Savage threw the stick 168-10 to earn a gold medal. He actually tripled on the day, winning first in the shot (43-6 3/4) and 100 (11.4).

The Eagles were third in the meet behind powerhouses Berean and Hesston. 

Trey Moddelmog captured the other gold for the Eagles by winning the high jump in 5-10. He also had a fourth in the long jump.

The C-G girls finished fifth with 23 points. Anna Wesley had a third in the 200 and fourth in the 400, while Cody Nightingale had a pair of fifths in the shot put and discus, respectively.
