LAWRENCE — Hesston’s versatile Ryan Schadler competed this weekend in the high school division of the KU Relays.
On Friday, he ran in the 100 meter prelims and turned in a time of 11.24, which was fourth in his heat and 15th out of 42 runners overall. He was .07 from making the Top 9 for the finals.
He also ran in the 400 and qualified for the finals. His prelim time was 49.93 and he ran 50.62 in Saturday’s finals to take seventh.
Schadler qualified for the finals in the long jump with a bound of 22-1 3/4, but he could not compete because the finals of the 400 were run at the same time and no exceptions were made.
His prelim jump placed him sixth, with four jumpers surpassing 23 feet.
