HILLSBORO — KCAC leader and 14th-ranked Tabor College finished off a four-game baseball sweep of Bethany College on Saturday with 6-5 and 16-1 victories.
Bethany fell back under the .500 mark in the KCAC at 11-13 and is 19-27 overall. It wraps up regular-season play next weekend hosting Ottawa on Friday, then the teams play in Ottawa on Saturday.
Bethany led the KCAC leader 5-4 in the first game until the Bluejays scored a run in the sixth and then won in walk-off fashion in the seventh.
Sammuel Ramirez had two hits for the Swedes, who scored four of their runs in the fifth inning.
Cory Skerce took the loss.
After breathing the sigh of relief, the Bluejays were all business in the second game, including innings of six, four and three runs.
Pablo Contreras homered for the Swedes in the seventh inning as they avoided the shutout. Clayton Cozzitorto took the loss.
“We competed in Game One and fell short," Bethany coach Andrew Bartman said. "In Game Two, we didn't even show up. I look forward to this week of practice to see how tough we are and just how bad we really want to get into the tournament."
