SILOAM SPRINGS, Ark. — John Brown University clipped Central Christian College’s men’s tennis team 5-4 in dual action Tuesday, which completed the Tigers’ season.
Doubles was the difference as JBU won two of the three matches. The teams had split the six singles matches. It didn’t help the Tigers they were missing No. 3 player Hugo Chavez.
Winning singles matches for the Tigers were Mark Gayer (6-0, 6-1), Dylon Neal (6-1, 6-7, 13-11) and Trey Johnson (6-2, 6-0).
Gayer and Neal (8-4) won at No. 1 doubles as they completed their outstanding careers on this day.
The Lady Tigers were defeated, 9-0.
“It was another tough day for both teams,” CCC coach Jeremy Nelson said. “The JBU women were just too tough and the men's match was disappointing. I was really happy for Dylon and Mark. Very few players get to end their careers with a win. They both have had amazing careers for us and they will definitely be missed next year.”
