HALSTEAD — Bobby Childs considers his Elyria Christian School track and field team as “pioneers.”
The Eagles continued their journey in their first track and field season in many years by competing Tuesday at Halstead.
Misha Redenbaugh was the lone medalist for the Eagles by taking third in the 400.
Other Top 6 finishers for the Eagle girls were Darian Trost (fifth in the 400 and 1,600), Misha Redenbaugh (fifth in the 800), Moriah Redenbaugh (sixth in the 3,200), Grace Applequist (sixth in the discus) and Camille Anderson (sixth in the javelin).
Two relay teams also placed fifth.
On the boys’ side, Ethan Price had the leading Top 6 finish by taking fourth in the 400. Aaron Porter took sixth in the 300 hurdles, while the 4 x 100 relay team was fifth.
“In our events tonight, we had athletes improve their time or distance 19 times,” Childs said. “That shows continual improvement, but does leave us with some room to work. We are proud of all our athletes in our pioneer season and look forward to seeing how the season will finish up.”
The Eagles compete next Tuesday at Hillsboro.
