MOUNDRIDGE — The Moundridge and Berean girls are going to battle for Class 2A supremacy until the time they compete next month at the State Track and Field Meet at Wichita’s Cessna Stadium.
The Wildcats won nine events on Tuesday during a five-team meet they hosted, but Berean’s depth was too much to overcome.
The Warriors scored 161 points to 115 1/2 for the Wildcats. The other teams were basically bystanders, with Goessel (48 1/2), Herington (19) and Marion (14) rounding out the field.
Peri Lange doubled for the Wildcats in the triple jump (32-2 1/2) and 300 hurdles (50.20), as did Anna Stucky in the 100 (13.2) and long jump (15-3 1/2).
Other MHS winners were Rylie Dick in the high jump (4-10), Brooke Holloway in the shot (29-1/2), Ashley Holler in the pole vault (7-0) and Whitney Fiedler in the discus (88-1/2).
The 4 x 400 relay of Stucky, Holler, Lange and Cassidy Siemens (4:16.2) also grabbed the gold.
Berean’s boys flexed plenty of muscle with 215 1/2 points. Moundridge was second with 77 1/2, while Goessel (45), Marion (14) and Herington (12) completed the order.
MHS’ Joel Holloway doubled in the jumps, winning the long (18-11 1/2) and triple (40-9 1/2).
Deshawn Pfeiff went 12-6 to win the pole vault.
