McPherson College head men’s basketball coach Tim Swartzendruber has announced the dates and times for the 2014 McPherson College Basketball Camp.

The dates for camp will be June 9-12 with all sessions being held in the McPherson College Sport Center. Sessions will run each day from 9-11 a.m.

The camp is for any boy or girl who will be in grades 2-8 in the fall of 2014. Campers will be divided according to age and ability.

The program will consist of teaching basic basketball fundamentals including:  shooting, passing, dribbling, rebounding, footwork and defense along with team and transition drills.  Contests will held in the following areas:  hot shot, free throw, one-on-one, and three-on-three.

“I have always enjoyed teaching the game of basketball and certainly look forward to working with youth from our area,” Swartzendruber said.  “I believe our camp format is engaging and fun.  We have tremendous enthusiasm at our camp and kids learn a lot. We have a tremendous staff lined up and I believe each camper will have a great camp experience.”

McPherson College women’s head coach Gordon Reimer, along with McPherson College men’s assistant coach TJ Eskildsen, highlight the staff which also will include members of the men’s and women’s teams.

Each camper who registers by the deadline will receive a T-shirt.  The deadline to enroll is May 30.  Forms are available on the McPherson College men’s basketball website or by contacting Swartzendruber at swartzet@mcpherson.edu or 620-242-0576.
