MHS JV thinclads earn first in home meet

Thursday was the perfect example why McPherson High track and field coach Jace Pavlovich is so excited about the future of the program.

The Bullpups hosted their annual JV Invitational at McPherson Stadium and came way with championships in both divisions, displaying a lot of talent both on the track and in the field.

The MHS girls stormed their way to a whopping 178 points, winning nine events on the day. Morgan Howard doubled with wins in the 100 hurdles and triple jump. Other individual winners were Laynie Moore in the 100, Kamryn Collins in the 200, Rachel Dossett in the high jump, Amy Suenram in the long jump and Ashlei Metheny in the javelin. MHS also won a pair of relays. The 4 x 100 included Howard, Moore, Collins and Rylinn Anderson, and the 4 x 400 team included McKenzie Becker, Christina Wankum, Lauren Wankum and Suenram.

The MHS boys squeaked by Hays, 122-112. Winning events were Taylor Kynaston in the 100, Kyle Smith in the 400, Kalib Martin in the 800 and the the 4 x 100 relay team of Jason Anderson, Tucker Chapman, Drake Janzen and Kynaston.
