NICKERSON — Smoky Valley’s baseball team ran into some strong Nickerson pitching on Friday, resulting in two losses.

The Vikings led the opener 1-0 until the fifth when the Panthers scored two runs, then they tacked on three in the sixth for a 5-1 victory.

Tim Ruble had the big hit of the game for the Vikings with a double, while Christian Hansen slashed a pair of singles. Josh Allbright pitched well, but took the loss.

Nickerson completed the sweep with a 12-2 second-game success, scoring in all but one inning. Kirk Barnes had the lone Viking extra-base hit with a double. Ryan Weldy took the loss.

The Vikes are now 1-11 on the year.
