ABILENE — McPherson High track and field coach Jace Pavlovich said Friday’s Abilene Invitational was a good tune-up for the upcoming McPherson Invitational on Thursday.

The Bullpup girls were a strong second, while the boys took fourth. Andale took first in both divisions.

The Bullpup girls had four firsts on the day, including Morgan Howard in the 100 hurdles (16.02), Amy Suenram in the long jump (16-6 3/4), Bri Cooks in the shot (41-4) and Ivanna Moyer in the discus (107-6).

Laynie Moore had a second in the 100, Collins was second in the triple jump and Moyer had a second in the shot.

On the boys’ side, it was a big day for Collin Harvey, who won both short sprints. He ran 11.08 in the 100 and 23.18 in the 200, as he continues on the comeback trail after dealing with some early season injuries.

Harvey also was on a 4 x 100 relay team that took second, which also included Dylan Shook, Taylor Kynaston and Chris Stoppel.

Ryen Trost added a second in the 400.
