DERBY — The ball could barely stay on the greens Monday in the Derby Invitational Golf Tournament, as nearly 40 mph winds buffeted Derby Country Club, which led to only one player breaking 80.
That was Derby’s Quincy Stith, who took medalist honors with a 78, which included a 37 on his inward nine.
That helped coach Tim Herrs’ Panthers to a 333 total, 11 shots better than Arkansas City.
McPherson High had three teams finish ahead of it and three teams finish behind it as it was fourth with 359.
Dylan Blosser led the Bullpups with 88, one stroke better than TJ Stites. Blosser’s score earned him 10th place, while Stites was 12th.
Other MHS scores were Casey Cheek (91, good for the 15th and final medal), Wyatt Porter (91), Jacob Lackey (93) and CJ Steiner (94).
